GreCO represents a comprehensive, forward-thinking approach to proactively address the pressing challenges faced by emerging urban destinations as they transform into sustainable and resilient tourism hubs. It is a multi-faceted initiative designed to reshape the future of urban tourism, promoting sustainability, inclusivity, and well-being for all stakeholders with the following stands:

  • Personalized Routes and Engagement: GreCO introduces a game-changing approach to tourism through personalized routes. These tailored itineraries, based on tourists' cultural backgrounds and preferences, promise an immersive and unique experience. The benefits are two-fold: Firstly, they foster cross-cultural understanding and appreciation, turning tourists into active participants in the destination's life. Secondly, by guiding visitors towards less-explored areas and encouraging interaction with locals, they contribute to environmental preservation.
  • Collaboration and Synergy: GreCO emphasizes collaboration among all stakeholders. This cooperative spirit enhances the overall tourism experience and ensures that everyone involved benefits from the transformation. Active involvement fosters inclusivity, mitigates cross-cultural conflicts, and nurtures a sense of ownership among locals.
  • Environmental Preservation: GreCO is deeply committed to environmental conservation. It will strategically directs tourists away from congested zones and encourage responsible sustainable behavior. This includes reducing food waste and supporting local businesses. Real-time data integration will enhance visitors’ sense of exploration and promoting responsible tourism practices.
  • Educational Programs: Tailor-made educational programs are central to GreCO to actively engage the community, promote intercultural understanding, and encourage sustainable development practices. Residents gain a deeper appreciation of sustainable tourism's value, and businesses adopt intercultural and sustainable strategies, benefiting the local economy and the environment.
  • Data-Driven Decision-Making: To ensure long-term sustainability, GreCO harnesses cutting-edge technology, including artificial intelligence and real-time data analysis. Monitoring factors such as environmental pollution levels empower data-driven decisions to mitigate environmental stress. This approach aligns with the goal of establishing a sustainable and resilient tourism destination, prepared to face evolving challenges.

Main Objectives

  • Establish and implement a comprehensive set of sustainable tourism management practices and policies, including waste reduction measures, sustainable transportation initiatives, and ecofriendly standards. Additionally, employ an inclusive, co-creation and participatory approach that will take the inclusion of local stakeholders a step further by seeing them not only as participants but also as co-creators and active agents of the Municipality’s tourism experiences.
  • Enhance the visitor experience through the delivery of unique, personalized, real-time, immersive experiences that promote responsible travel and local community integration. Simultaneously, we achieve intercultural respect and familiarity, enhancing the feeling of mutual appreciation and integration into the local authentic experiences.
  • Establish a sustainable and equitable distribution of tourism flows, ensuring that all stakeholders benefit from tourism activities in our community. We aim to achieve this by implementing strategies that promote responsible tourism practices, mitigate overcrowding, and evenly distribute the economic and social advantages of tourism.
