The role is Senior EU Team Leader /Research Associate on the domain of the Natural Disasters aiming to:

  • Support the research activities of BEYOND Center on the relevant field and
  • Participate in all phases of the EU and National funded projects activities from the concept formulation & proposal preparation to the implementation of research project activities of funded projects.

 

We seek an individual to support coordination of Disaster Risk Management tasks, link with the multi-disciplinary team of BEYOND, define research priorities in the domain of Natural Disasters, connect them with National & EU calls and to collaborate with the other team leaders across the BEYOND sectors and the Project Management team for the preparation of proposals in the domain.

 

Everyday activities:

We are currently looking for a Research Associate/experienced project coordinator for EU funded projects/ focusing on Disaster Risk Reduction to join our team in Athens, Greece. The successful candidate will have the following duties and tasks, including:

 

  • Define the research priorities on the domain of Natural disasters and coordinate the research activities of the whole team in various fields (Fires, Floods, etc.) in line with state-of-the-art and flagship EU initiatives and policies in the domain (e.g. Green Deal, Copernicus, DestinE, etc).
  • Leveraging on the existing group capacity and his/her skills, facilitate the research priorities of the team through the identification of relevant EU and National calls and strengthening the team innovative role in the domain.
  • Lead EU and national proposal writing activities in the domain with the support of the Project Management Team.
  • Perform the management activities of the National and EU funded projects (HORIZON, ESA GSRT, LIFE, etc.) in the domain of Natural Disasters etc.
  • Align and keep track with projects’ activities relevant to contractual obligations and delivering the required technical and management reports of projects

Qualification:

  • PhD degree/MSc level at least in one of the following: Engineering, Geo-information, EO, Space based applications, Project Management, or similar degree
  • Experience with EU, ESA, and/or other funded instruments and projects.
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in managing projects and teams and proposal writing.
  • Good knowledge in fields as Earth Observation Research, Satellite Remote Sensing, Geo-Information, IT/ICT, AI domains.
  • Self-motivated, positive attitude with effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Fluent oral and writing English skills.
