EuroGEO’s impactful contribution to the Group on Earth Observations (GEO) and its vital role in supporting the GEO CRADLE enabling mechanism for capacity building and Earth Observation-based services across the EMMENA, Africa, and Pacific Asia regions was highlighted in a keynote speech that captivated the audience’s attention at the 40th International Symposium on Remote Sensing of Environment (ISRSE-40). The keynote that outlined the work coordinated by Dr. Haris Kontoes, Principal Investigator of GEO-GRADLE and Research Director at ISAARS/NOA, was delivered by Alexia Tsouni, a Research Associate at BEYOND Centre of ISAARS/NOA.
The 40th ISRSE, taking place in Farnborough, UK, brought together a global network of experts from multiple international agencies, including NASA and ESA, along with leading scientists, researchers, policymakers, and practitioners. Since its inception in 1962, this biennial symposium has served as a pivotal platform for advancing remote sensing technologies and Earth observation data analysis, which are crucial for improving our understanding of the planet and its ecosystems.
EuroGEO’s contributions to GEO and its ongoing work through initiatives like GEO CRADLE underscore the importance of international collaboration and capacity building in advancing Earth observation-based solutions to address critical global challenges.
