8th GEO European Project Workshop - SPACE AND SECURITY CONFERENCE
BEYOND participated the 8th GEO European Project Workshop, on 12&13 June 2014, as also the SPACE & SECURITY CONFERENCE on 19&20 June 2014. The Space and Security Conference was co-organised by the General Secretariat for Research and Technology, the National Observatory, the University of Athens, the Greek Ministry of Defence and the European Commission under the auspices of the Hellenic Presidency of the EU.

In parallel to the current airborne campaign in Italy supporting the candidate Earth Explorer FLEX mission, we are also preparing a related campaign on Crete in Greece.
We would like to have a closer look at aerosols – tiny solid and liquid particles in the atmosphere. While they can have an adverse effect on human health and affect precipitation and climate, knowledge of aerosols is important for correcting satellite images.
The CHAREDMexp campaign, organised by the National Observatory of Athens (NOA), take places between 20 June and 10 July at Finokalia Station on Crete. A number of European research institutes are participating in the campaign, including TROPOS, the Cyprus Institute, Finish Meteorological Institute (FMI) and the World Radiation Center.
2nd South-Eastern Europe GEO Workshop, 20-21 October 2014, Athens
BEYOND has the honor to announce the organization of the second South- Eastern Europe GEO Workshop on “Integrating Earth Observation Data and Services for monitoring the Environment, protecting the citizens and stimulating the regional economic growth” focused on North Africa, Middle East and Balkan Regions.
NOA/BEYOND & Interbalkan Environment Center Cooperation
The cooperation agreement which has been signed between the Interbalkan Environment Center and the NOA/BEYOND Center of Excellence, aims to meet the requirements for dynamic observation of the environment through the complementary use of terrestrial and space based sensor networks, and also integrate these observations into simulation models for assessing the critical environmental parameters relating to land, atmosphere, and water resources at national and inter-Balkan level.
